Located between Meguro and Shibuya stations on the Yamonote line, Ebisu is a nice place to chill out. It has some good restaurants and bars and a lot less crowded than its neighbor, Shibuya. The fairly recent development of Ebisu Garden Place has given the area a whole array of new restaurants and entertainment options. The trendy areas of Daikanyama and Hiro are also very close by.
Places to go
Ebisu Garden Place
Completed in October 1994 is easily reaced by escalator type walkways from Ebisu station. Its popularity has been taken away a little by newer developments, such as Roppongi Hills. The area features a shopping center including a branch of Mitsukoshi department store, the Westin Tokyo, an art-house cinema, restaurants and the Yebisu Beer Museum.
Yebisu Beer Museum
Yebisu Garden Place is actually built on the site of Sapporo's Tokyo brewery, which is probably why Yebisu decided to create their museum to beer here. Entrance is free and after the tour you can enjoy beer tasting in the tasting lounge. Small glasses are only 200 yen! The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed on Mondays and during the New Year holiday period.
