The area around Tokyo station is mainly a business district. The nearby Otemachi is one of the main financial districts of Tokyo. The area is busy on weekdays but almost dead on weekends.

The Imperial Palace
The Imperial Palace is home to the Emperor and the Imperial family. The palace takes up a large chunk of Tokyo's valuable real-estate. The palace is surrounded by a moat. It's a pleasant walk around the palace but there is very little to see.
Yasukuni-jinja is one of the most controversial places in Tokyo, as it honors the war dead of Japan. Visits by the prime minister usually creates head-lines around Asia. Every visit starts a debate in local press as to whether is appropriate for the prime minister to visit the shrine. Despite the controversy, it is an interesting place to visit.
